Rotary Club Kigali Mont JaliProjects & Impact

Our Impact

Every project we undertake is a commitment to a community,
to a cause, and to the belief that sustained, professional service
creates lasting change.

Service in Action

Overview

Since 1999, Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali has delivered projects that address the most pressing needs of Rwandan communities. Our work spans clean water access, inclusive education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and social welfare always guided by Rotary's global focus areas and the specific realities of the people we serve.

We do not simply respond to need. We build partnerships, mobilise resources, and see our commitments through.

Where We Focus

Our projects are shaped by community need, Rotary's global priorities, and the expertise of our members. Our work consistently falls across five core areas:

Water, Sanitation & Health

Ensuring that communities have access to the clean water and basic health services that are the foundation of dignified life.

Education & Inclusion

Supporting children and young people — particularly those with disabilities or from vulnerable backgrounds — in accessing quality, inclusive education.

Youth Empowerment

Equipping young people with the skills, confidence, and mentorship they need to build productive and meaningful lives.

Social Welfare & Dignity

Standing alongside society's most vulnerable — elderly survivors, people with albinism, patients, and those in detention — with practical support and human dignity.

International Collaboration

Partnering with Rotary clubs and development organizations across the world to mobilise greater resources and deliver greater impact.

Completed Projects

What We Have Delivered

Eau pour la Vie — Clean Water for Rwinyoni Village (Rutsiro District)

Access to clean water is the foundation of health, education, and economic opportunity. This flagship project brought safe water to one of Rwanda's rural communities through a comprehensive system of rainwater harvesting, storage, treatment, and distribution.

Who it served:

  • 1,000 families across the villages of Rwinyoni, Nyabi, and Muramba
  • 900 students at Groupe Scolaire Rwinyoni

Partners: RC Kigali Mont Jali · RC Vitré (France) · RC Newton (United Kingdom) · ACEV France · Districts 9150, 1650, and 1175 · District de Rutsiro

Total Budget: $35,050

This project demonstrates the power of international Rotary collaboration, bringing together clubs and districts from three countries to solve a problem that no single club could solve alone.

Supporting People Living with Albinism

In partnership with OIPPA
People living with albinism face significant health risks and social stigma. RCKMJ has partnered with the Organisation for Inclusive Protection of Persons with Albinism (OIPPA) to deliver tangible health support and raise public awareness.

What we delivered:

  • 50 pairs of protective eyeglasses distributed
  • 10 medical screenings facilitated
  • RWF 3,000,000 mobilised for health interventions

Our club participates annually in the International Albinism Awareness Day, reaffirming our long-term commitment to this community.

Supporting Autism Rwanda — Inclusive Education

We believe that every child deserves access to an education that meets their needs. RCKMJ partnered with Autism Rwanda to raise funds, produce awareness content, and secure material support for children with autism.

What we delivered:

  • RWF 26,250,000 pledged by HIS Rwanda for educational materials
  • A documentary film produced to raise public awareness

Empowering Young Detainees — Vocational Training in Prisons

Rehabilitation requires opportunity. RCKMJ has delivered vocational training and equipment to young detainees in multiple penitentiary institutions across Rwanda giving young people the practical skills to rebuild their lives upon release.

What we delivered:

  • 12 sewing machines (valued at RWF 2,100,000) donated to the Nyamagabe Women's Prison
  • Donations previously made to five additional penitentiary institutions across Rwanda
What We Are Building Next

Ongoing & Upcoming Projects

RCKMJ's pipeline reflects our commitment to continuity,
innovation, and scaling impact. Our upcoming projects address
some of Rwanda's most critical social challenges.

Rwanda’s elderly genocide survivors carry wounds that time alone cannot heal. The INTWAZA project brings practical dignity and care to elderly survivors residing at the Impinganzima home in Huye.

Planned support:

  • Purchase of a washing machine for the home
  • A smart vital signs monitor
  • Adult care supplies for residents

Project budget: RWF 15,000,000

In partnership with Resonate, MIGEPROF & District de Burera

Young mothers and their families deserve more than sympathy. They deserve skills, support, and a platform. The Speak for Change project will train 50 young mothers and 100 parents in leadership, advocacy, and mental well-being.

Programme details:

  • 18-month mentorship programme
  • Partners: Resonate · Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF) · District de Burera
  • Estimated budget: $50,000

District de Nyaruguru

Education must leave no child behind. This project will support the École et Institut pour Enfants Aveugles (EIBC) through the provision of adapted educational materials, awareness-raising, and improved accessibility of school infrastructure.

RCKMJ in the Media

Our work has been recognised by Rwandan
and international media. Below is a selection of
recent press coverage featuring Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali.

Our Approach to Service

Partnership First We believe the greatest impact comes from collaboration. Every major project we deliver is the result of partnerships with local communities, government bodies, international Rotary clubs, NGOs, and the private sector.

Transparency and Accountability We are accountable to the communities we serve and the partners who trust us. We report openly on project outcomes, financial management, and lessons learned.

Long-term Thinking We do not chase one-off activities. We invest in projects that create systems, build capacity, and sustain results long after our direct involvement ends.

Documentary Evidence We document our work through film, photography, and reporting both to honour the people we serve and to inspire others to act. Our short documentaries have become a signature of how we communicate impact.

Our Partners

Our impact would not be possible without the trust and generosity
of our partners. We are grateful to the organisations and institutions
who stand with us in service.
