About Us

Who We Are

A Community United by Service,

Friendship, and Purpose

Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali brings together professionals, leaders, and changemakers who believe
that lasting impact begins with people who care enough to act. For more than 25 years,

we have built friendships, developed leaders, and worked alongside communities
to create positive change across Rwanda. United by Rotary's motto,
Service Above Self, we transform ideas into action
and service into lasting impact.

We are people of action.

Our Story

The Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali (RCKMJ) was founded on 16 July 1999, chartered under Charter No. 52386 and sponsored by the Rotary Club Kigali Doyen. For over 26 years, we have been a steady presence in Rwanda's landscape of service, bringing together professionals from across sectors to address the needs of our communities with skill, compassion, and commitment.

Our name carries meaning. Mont Jali — a landmark of Kigali — reflects our roots in this city and our pride in contributing to its growth and the well-being of its people.

Over the decades, our club has grown in membership, deepened its impact, and expanded its reach. We have proudly contributed to the growth of the broader Rotary family in Rwanda by sponsoring the creation of two clubs: the Rotary Club de Kibungo Gisaka and the Rotary Club de Musanze Murera, which continues to thrive today.

On 15 November 2024, we celebrated a landmark milestone — our 25th anniversary — gathering Rotarians from across Rwanda in a moment of gratitude, reflection, and renewed commitment to the road ahead.

What Drives Us

Mission, Vision & Values

Our Mission

Our Mission

To bring together dedicated professionals who share a commitment to service, friendship, and ethical leadership, and to use their skills, resources, and networks to create lasting positive change in communities across Rwanda and beyond.

Our Vision

Our Vision

Thriving communities where people have the opportunity, dignity, and support they need to reach their full potential, built through collaboration, leadership, and the spirit of Service Above Self.

Our Values

The foundation of everything we do. We serve not for recognition, but because meaningful change begins when people choose to put others first

We believe strong relationships inspire stronger action. Through friendship, we build trust, collaboration, and a shared sense of purpose.

We uphold the highest ethical standards in how we lead, serve, and represent Rotary.

We measure success not by activity alone, but by the lives improved, opportunities created, and communities strengthened.

We develop leaders who serve with vision, humility, and responsibility, while investing in the next generation through mentorship and youth engagement.

We are enriched by different experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds. We welcome and value every voice.

The Rotary Four-Way Test

Our Guiding Principles

At Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali, our actions, decisions, and relationships are guided by a simple yet powerful ethical framework known as the Rotary Four-Way Test.

For generations, Rotarians around the world have used these four questions as a compass for leadership, service, and everyday life:

Of the things we think, say, or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

More than a statement of values, the Four-Way Test challenges us to lead with integrity, act with fairness, strengthen relationships, and pursue solutions that create lasting benefit for others. It is a timeless reminder that meaningful service begins with ethical choices and a genuine commitment to the common good.

Our Members

A Diverse Community of Professionals

Our strength lies in our people. RCKMJ brings together professionals from a wide range of sectors, banking, law, healthcare, education, business, engineering, research, insurance, tourism, and international development creating a club that is as diverse as the challenges it seeks to address.

Today, our 42 members reflect the depth of Kigali's professional community. With a healthy balance of experience and fresh energy, and a strong representation of women in leadership, our club is built to serve, to grow, and to last.

This consistent growth is a testament to the relevance of our mission and the power of our community.
