As part of its continued commitment to rehabilitation, empowerment, and sustainable community development, Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali (RCKMJ) donated 12 sewing machines to the Nyamagabe Women’s Correctional Centre, creating new opportunities for young female detainees to gain practical vocational skills and prepare for successful reintegration into society.
Valued at RWF 2,100,000, the donation is designed to support skills development programmes within the correctional facility, equipping beneficiaries with tailoring and sewing competencies that can become a foundation for future employment, entrepreneurship, and economic independence upon release.
The initiative reflects Rotary’s belief that rehabilitation extends beyond confinement and should include meaningful investments in personal growth, dignity, and long-term self-reliance. By providing access to vocational training tools, Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali aims to help create an environment where young women can build confidence, develop marketable skills, and envision new possibilities for their future.
Economic empowerment remains a critical component of successful reintegration. Through hands-on training opportunities, participants can acquire practical experience that supports their transition back into their communities and reduces barriers to rebuilding their lives.

With this latest intervention, Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali has now implemented penitentiary support initiatives across six institutions in Rwanda, demonstrating a sustained commitment to inclusive development and restorative community engagement.
