Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali officially ushered in a new chapter of leadership on Wednesday evening with the installation of Rtn Rosine Uwamariya as Club President for the 2026–2027 Rotary year. Held at Mövenpick Hotel Kigali, the Presidential Installation Night celebrated Rotary’s enduring tradition of leadership transition while honouring an exceptional year of service under Immediate Past President Rtn PHF Claver Irakoze.
Officiated by Assistant District Governor Jwala Vijay Kumar Chaluvadi, the ceremony brought together Rotarians from clubs across Rwanda, partners, family members, and friends to celebrate a leadership handover that symbolizes far more than a change of positions. In Rotary, the annual installation of a new president represents continuity in service, the passing of responsibility from one leader to another, and a shared commitment to advancing Rotary’s mission of improving lives through fellowship and service.
Honouring a Year of Remarkable Leadership
One of the evening’s most emotional moments came as club members paid tribute to Immediate Past President Claver Irakoze, whose 2025–2026 presidency was widely recognised for strengthening the club’s visibility, expanding its membership, and delivering measurable impact in communities across Rwanda.
In appreciation of his leadership, members presented President Claver with a special commemorative gift.
Speaking on behalf of the club, Rtn PHF+1 Jean Malic Kalima reflected on the legacy left behind.

The recognition celebrated a Rotary year distinguished by growth, innovation, and a renewed commitment to serving communities while strengthening Rotary’s presence in Rwanda.
A Year Defined by Impact
Throughout the evening, guests looked back on the club’s achievements through a beautifully produced 2025–2026 Year in Review film, showcasing projects, partnerships, and milestones that defined the year.
Among the highlights was the successful completion of a USD 35,000 Rotary Global Grant, which now provides sustainable access to clean water for more than 1,000 families and over 900 students in Rwinyoni Village, Rutsiro District, improving health, dignity, and opportunity for the community.
The club also recorded its highest number of Paul Harris Fellow recognitions in a single Rotary year, celebrating eight new recognitions—including six Paul Harris Fellows (PHF), one PHF+1, and one PHF+3—a reflection of members’ generosity and commitment to supporting The Rotary Foundation, the engine behind Rotary’s humanitarian work around the world.
Further demonstrating that commitment, Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali achieved 100 percent contribution in Rotary’s End Polio campaign, joining Rotarians worldwide in the fight to eradicate polio.
Membership growth remained another key success. During the year, three new members joined the club, bringing its active membership to 42 Rotarians and reinforcing the club’s vision of building a vibrant, diverse, and service-driven Rotary family.
The evening also marked another historic milestone with the official launch of www.rckmj.org, the club’s first-ever website. The platform serves as the digital home of Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali, showcasing its history, projects, annual reports, stories of impact, and opportunities for partnership and membership.
Looking Ahead
Receiving the presidential chain, President Rosine Uwamariya praised the achievements of her predecessor and reaffirmed her commitment to building upon the strong foundation established during the past Rotary year.

She outlined an ambitious agenda centred on expanding community health initiatives, supporting the socio-economic empowerment of teenage mothers, strengthening collaboration with Rotaract clubs through the ECORATA environmental conservation initiative, and advancing environmental protection and youth engagement.
President Rosine also committed to preserving the vibrant spirit of fellowship that defines Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali while expanding Rotary’s footprint through the establishment of a new Rotary Club, a Rotaract Club, and an Interact Club.
Guided by Rotary International’s 2026–2027 theme, “Create Lasting Impact,” she encouraged members to continue transforming compassion into action and serving with purpose.
Continuing a Legacy of Service
Now entering its 28th year, Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali continues to bring together 42 active members, including 19 women, making it one of the clubs with the strongest female representation within Rotary in Rwanda.
For nearly three decades, the club has connected professionals from diverse backgrounds around a common purpose: using their expertise, leadership, and resources to improve lives and strengthen communities.
As the presidential chain changed hands, so too did the responsibility of leading that mission forward.
Yet the spirit that has guided Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali since its charter in 1999 remains unchanged—friendship that inspires service, leadership that creates opportunity, and a shared belief that lasting impact begins when people choose to serve others.
